Mayor again tops list for travel expenses!
La Mesa Mayor Art Madrid has again outdistanced other city council members in travel for the first half of fiscal year 2012-2013 with just under $5,000 expended. The list of expenses was provided by the La Mesa City Clerk. The locations include Boston, Massachusetts and the luxurious Ahwahnee Lodge in Yosemite Valley California.

Could this be because he is the only one going to these functions?
Perhaps we need someone on the council to decide what is important to travel to and what is just a “vacation”.
We are in a new era. We now have the internet. Many business conferences can be done online costing the city nothing or very little ( he would need a computer & an internet service) both of which La Mesa City Council has.
No need to stay over night, go out to dinner or go to a bar.
I would like to see our city be more conservative. Save that money so we can repair roads, or hire another police officer.Please do not waste our money.
